The multi-carrier power amplifier (MCPA) amplifies all the TRXs connected to it simultaneously.
The output power is divided between the configured TRXs and it causes a
reduction in maximum TX power per TRX when the amount of TRXs is increased. The
cell size and the coverage get reduced with big configurations. Figure 1 shows an
example of fixed MCPA. The power is equally distributed among all the TRXs (for
example 15W). But mobiles at extended coverage area require more power (for
example 20W). Since TRXs only have the limited power of 15W, it is not possible to
serve mobile stations outside the 15W coverage area. PL=0 refers to the TRX with
maximum obtained power level.
