人民郵電報(bào)社是信息產(chǎn)業(yè)部直屬的中國(guó)通信信息產(chǎn)業(yè)領(lǐng)域權(quán)威新聞機(jī)構(gòu)。
　　《人民郵電》報(bào)是信息產(chǎn)業(yè)部直屬的中國(guó)通信產(chǎn)業(yè)的權(quán)威主導(dǎo)媒體，是我國(guó)創(chuàng)刊最早，業(yè)界發(fā)行密度最大的行業(yè)之一。毛澤東主席于1948年12月在西柏坡親筆為籌辦中的《人民郵電》題寫報(bào)頭。經(jīng)過(guò)50多年的發(fā)展，成為我國(guó)通信信息產(chǎn)業(yè)的第一大報(bào)，成為中外通信業(yè)同行增進(jìn)了解、擴(kuò)大合作的橋梁和紐帶，在國(guó)內(nèi)外通信領(lǐng)域具有廣泛影響�！度嗣襦]電》報(bào)現(xiàn)已成為我國(guó)通信信息產(chǎn)業(yè)的新聞總匯、信息總匯、廣告總匯。
　　為適應(yīng)通信行業(yè)發(fā)展的新形勢(shì)，充分發(fā)揮《人民郵電》報(bào)的橋梁、紐帶作用，2000年9 月，在北京成立了由通信行業(yè)政府主管部門和各大通信運(yùn)營(yíng)公司共同參加的《人民郵電》新聞宣傳理事會(huì)，指導(dǎo)《人民郵電》報(bào)辦報(bào)工作，從而，形成了信息產(chǎn)業(yè)部主管，人民郵電報(bào)社主辦，各大通信運(yùn)營(yíng)公司協(xié)辦的辦報(bào)新體制。
　　經(jīng)過(guò)多年來(lái)的建設(shè)發(fā)展，人民郵電報(bào)社已培養(yǎng)出一支以碩士研究生、大學(xué)本科生為主體的專家型新聞編采隊(duì)伍。同時(shí)，人民郵電報(bào)社率先在首都新聞界建成計(jì)算機(jī)編采網(wǎng)絡(luò)，實(shí)現(xiàn)了編采、出版全過(guò)程的計(jì)算機(jī)處理。編輯、記者和遍及全國(guó)各地的駐地記者均配備有電腦、數(shù)碼照相機(jī)等高技術(shù)設(shè)備，記者在外地撰寫的新聞稿件和圖片，瞬間即可通過(guò)因特網(wǎng)進(jìn)入報(bào)社局域網(wǎng)并見諸報(bào)端，大大提高了新聞報(bào)道時(shí)效。
　　秉承全面服務(wù)信息產(chǎn)業(yè)的宗旨，人民郵電報(bào)社積極組織舉辦業(yè)界重大的研討活動(dòng)，與政府、研究機(jī)構(gòu)、企業(yè)共商信息產(chǎn)業(yè)發(fā)展大計(jì)。以“新電信論壇”、“中國(guó)信息港論壇”為品牌的高層次系列研討會(huì)，在業(yè)界具有較大影響。
　　《人民郵電》新聞宣傳理事會(huì)是《人民郵電》報(bào)的業(yè)務(wù)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)機(jī)構(gòu)，負(fù)責(zé)研究確定《人民郵電》報(bào)辦報(bào)方針、政策；審議《人民郵電》報(bào)年度報(bào)道方案；指導(dǎo)重大報(bào)道活動(dòng)。

　　改革開放以來(lái)，我國(guó)通信業(yè)發(fā)展迅猛。電話用戶的規(guī)模從1979年的203萬(wàn)戶到1992年的千萬(wàn)級(jí)，用了13年時(shí)間；1998年達(dá)到億級(jí)，用了6年時(shí)間；而從1億戶到2億戶，僅僅用了2年時(shí)間。我國(guó)移動(dòng)電話發(fā)展到1000萬(wàn)戶用了10年時(shí)間；而從1000萬(wàn)戶發(fā)展到1億戶，只用了不到4年的時(shí)間。
　　權(quán)威統(tǒng)計(jì)數(shù)據(jù)表明，備受世人矚目的通信業(yè)已經(jīng)成為國(guó)民經(jīng)濟(jì)中發(fā)展最快的行業(yè)之一。"九五"期間，我國(guó)通信業(yè)務(wù)收入年均增長(zhǎng)28.8%，是同期國(guó)內(nèi)生產(chǎn)總值增長(zhǎng)幅度的3.2倍；通信固定資產(chǎn)投資累計(jì)完成8000億元，是"八五"期間的3.3倍。

　　在2001年《財(cái)富》全球論壇上，吳基傳部長(zhǎng)發(fā)表的權(quán)威信息令業(yè)界振奮——今后5年，中國(guó)信息產(chǎn)業(yè)將繼續(xù)保持20%以上的年增長(zhǎng)速度。固定、移動(dòng)電話網(wǎng)規(guī)模在2000年的基礎(chǔ)上將再翻一番，達(dá)到5億用戶，全國(guó)電話普及率將達(dá)40%。技術(shù)上將大力采用密集波分復(fù)用、第三代移動(dòng)通信及IP等先進(jìn)技術(shù)，實(shí)現(xiàn)融語(yǔ)音、圖像、數(shù)據(jù)為一體的超大容量、靈活高效、經(jīng)濟(jì)適用、安全可靠的寬帶高速信息網(wǎng)。同時(shí)將建立健全通信市場(chǎng)的法律法規(guī)和監(jiān)管體系。


英文介紹
　　People’s Posts and Telecommunications News (PPTN) is directly under the supervision of the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) of China, People’s Posts and Telecommunications News Agency(PPTNA) is the authoritative news agency in China’s communication and information industry.
　　Currently, PPTNA possesses three newspapers as People’s Posts and Telecommunications News (PPTN), China Netizen News, and China Philately; and three magazines as China Telecom Industry, China Radio Management, and Posts and Telecommunications Enterprises Management. It also runs a website----China Information Industry Net(CNII) ,a TV news program-producing center and China Philately Net(www.cnjy.com.cn). Its reporting covers every aspect of the information industry.
　　PPTN is one of the earliest industrial newspapers established in China and the most valuable publications with the largest circulation. The masthead of “People’s Posts and Telecommunications” in Chinese was inscribed by Chairman Mao Zedong at Xibaipo in December 1948 to the newspaper under preparation. After 50 years’ development, PPTN has become the number one publication in China’s communication industry. It sets up a bridge for domestic and foreign professionals, helps them enhance the understanding and extend the cooperation; hence brings itself great fame in the communication industry at home and abroad.
　　Based on PPTNA&＃039;s six publications (including three newspapers and three periodicals), CNII is also backed by PPTNA&＃039;s journalists who endeavor to collect latest industrial information at home and abroad. Therefore, CNII can offer timely, full-scale and authoritative information,information consultation, information technology and products release for domestic and foreign info-communications industry.
　　After years of construction, PPTNA has fostered a group of expert journalists, most of whom possess a bachelor degree or a master degree. Meanwhile, PPTNA has led the capital’s journalism industry in building the computer-editing network, and its whole procedures of news collecting, editing and publishing are computerized. The editors and reporters in headquarter as well as reporters throughout the country are equipped with high-tech tools as computer and digital camera. Reporters in other places are also able to send the contributions and news photos to the Intranet via Internet; thus the timeliness of news reporting is greatly improved.
　　To serve the information industry in every aspect, PPTNA also organizes activities as forum and seminar on important issues in the industry, in order to discuss the developing strategy with the enterprises. Many of the activities were widely welcomed in the field, such as ’99 China Information Harbour Forum,New Telecom Forum,2000 Summit Seminar on Trend of Wireless Communication Development in the New Century, and publishing of the series of analyzing articles of ten focus issues in China’s current telecom industry.
　　With the coming of information times, PPTNA is facing the new developing opportunities. To comply with the requirement of MII, the publications issued by PPTNA will expand reporting scopes and enhance the reporting qualities. PPTNA will endeavor to build itself into an authoritative newspaper group with high efficiency in China’s communication and information industry, and devote itself to the development of our national information industry.
